City Council Candidates Invite Fellow Candidates to Nonpartisan Pledge

(GREEN BAY, WI) After several weeks of engagement and interference by political parties and political action committees in the 2022 Spring Election for Green Bay City Council Elections, city council candidates are being invited to pledge to nonpartisanship on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, one week prior to Election Day.

On March 8, 2022, District 11 City Council Candidate Michael Poradek, concerned about the engagement of political parties in the nonpartisan election, released a statement and signed a nonpartisan pledge (www.michaelporadek.com/pledge). Poradek’s pledge promised to not accept any support from any political party or engagement in partisan politics both during the campaign and, if elected, while serving in the capacity of alderperson.

Fellow City Council candidate, Aron Obrecht (District 6), has stepped forward to support Poradek in an expanded pledge, especially in the wake of PAC involvement which has escalated in recent weeks, including in both Obrecht and Poradek’s district races. Both candidates are now inviting all candidates for the Spring Election to join them in signing the same new pledge.

Media is invited to join for a brief press conference and signing outside Green Bay City Hall (100 N Jefferson St, Green Bay, WI 54301) on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 6:00pm. Candidates who choose will be available for questions following the signing.

For more information on the signing and pledge, please contact Michael Poradek for Green Bay at 920-561-2550 or email michael.poradek@gmail.com
